Mandarin Chinese is the most widely spoken Chinese dialect, and the most widely spoken language in the world with approximately 955 million native speakers. Approximately one in seven people on Earth speak Mandarin Chinese. In China, it is the standard language taught in schools, as well as the language used in official news broadcasts and most movies and television programs. Outside of China, it is widely spoken in Singapore, Malaysia and Chinatowns throughout the world. Due to China’s rising economy and growing international prominence, Mandarin Chinese is quickly becoming one of the world’s most studied languages.
